Cosmic Cupkates

I come from a large Irish family that appreciates family and good food. Since I can remember I’ve always been fascinated with cooking. I used to watch my grandpa in the kitchen cooking away and following recipes with impeccable
accuracy. I always considered cooking and baking a strong suite or hobby of mine. I find an indescribable bliss from getting a recipe exactly right and seeing people’s positive reactions after trying something I’ve made. I never thought I could be successful baking cupcakes, I honestly thought it would be photography, but the universe works in mysterious ways.

 

I went to school for photojournalism at Ohio University, until I had one of the worst years of my life suffering severely from depression and anxiety in combination with the news that I could no longer receive financial aid and would have to leave Athens without a degree.Essentially I felt like my world was crumpling around at my feet. I moved back home to Toledo, Ohio and basically started my life again from square one. I found that baking cupcakes was a source of happiness that I could not find else where at the time. It was strangely therapeutic for me to find a recipe that looked amazing and recreate it. I started to post my cupcake creations on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag “baking therapy”, which is exactly what it was for me.

 

I was shocked at how interested and supportive people were of my baking. Once I started bringing cupcakes in to work and having friends and family try them, they were convinced that I could do something with my talent. I became passionate and obsessed with the idea of starting a cupcake business and with some encouragement I made it happen. I’m still small, but I have the heart to dream big. I will do anything and everything to continue to share the happiness and love that I feel from baking with the world through my cupcakes. The stars seems to have aligned with my idea becoming a reality and thus Cosmic Cupkates was born.
